What if I run out of money or can’t afford to pay?
It’s unfortunate that this situation can occur, often due to unexpected family, work, or social events.
At MFT we recognise the commitment that a student makes when they start their training and how much it fits into their future dreams. Consequently, when financial difficulties occur, we make every attempt to understand the problem, and provide advice and guidance on how it may be managed, with the goal of restarting the training sometime in the near future.
Can I pay in advance?
Yes you can. In line with common business accounting, we can accept payment in advance and have facilities to manage and track expenses as required.
Are there any “up front” payments required?
An application fee of $1,500.00 applies to all new international student enrolments. The fee is non-refundable.
For other students no “up front” payments are required.
Can I pay for my flying using a credit card?
Yes! MFT accepts payment by Credit Card, Direct Debit, and Cash.
Some conditions apply for International students to make the payment process easier.
How long will it take to learn to fly?
Although there are some typical time estimates that we can provide, in reality there are many influences that effect the duration of training. Many students are limited by the availability of funds and consequently may fly only once a week or less often, while others are ‘cashed up’ and can fly every day
Other factors which may influence the schedule are weather, instructor availability, aircraft availability, holidays, and more. Besides, there is also the study involved in the theory subjects, and other activities to consider
Some typical guidelines for a fulltime student are as below. Please note these are estimates and these timeframes should be ample and in fact most likely more than what will actually be required
Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) 3 months
Private Pilot Licence (PPL) 3 months
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) theory 3 months
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) flying 3 months
Instructor Rating 3 months
Instrument Rating 3 months
For students studying on a more part time basis the following would be an indicator.
RPL requires approximately 35-40 lessons (or visits to the airport)
PPL requires approximately 12-15 lessons (or visits to the airport)
CPL requires approximately 25 lessons (or visits to the airport)
